About COFSC

COFSC's PURPOSE

The Central Okanagan Food System Collaborative (COFSC) is a network of organizations, community partners, and leaders working together to improve food security across the region.

We focus on strengthening what already exists by improving coordination, reducing duplication, and supporting more equitable and dignified access to food.

OUR ROLE

COFSC supports and aligns the organizations leading food security efforts across the region.

This includes:

Strengthening and aligning existing initiatives
Improving coordination of food access
Reducing duplication across services
Supporting equity, dignity, and community voice

Our Approach

COFSC prioritizes practical, achievable progress.

This means focusing on:

Clearer awareness of roles across organizations
Stronger communication and coordination
Small, achievable actions that build momentum
Consistent and stable collaboration

How We Work

COFSC meets quarterly to bring partners together, share updates, and identify opportunities for alignment and collaboration.

These meetings are designed to:

Build relationships and trust
Improve awareness of who is doing what across the region
Identify shared priorities and coordination opportunities

Between meetings, action teams form around specific areas of focus where collaboration can add value.

Action teams are:

Led by participating organizations
Focused on clear, practical goals
Time-bound and action-oriented
Designed to support the broader system

How This Work Is Supported

COFSC is supported through a collective impact approach, facilitated by Thrive Okanagan.

A dedicated backbone support function is essential to making this work possible. It ensures consistent coordination, clear communication, and the ability to bring partners together in a meaningful and action-oriented way.

This support is provided through a community catalyst role that facilitates meetings, supports partner engagement, and helps maintain momentum around shared priorities.
